Fitzgibbon Hospital celebrated a milestone year in 2025, welcoming 252 newborns into the world and continuing a legacy of compassionate maternity care that began in 1923.
The year brought 130 boys and 122 girls to families throughout the region, with parents showing a clear preference for less-traditional names. Jasper topped the list as the most popular boy's name, while Wrenley, with several variations, emerged as the favorite for girls.
March proved to be the busiest month for the Women’s Center, with 26 deliveries, while September was the slowest with 12 births. The hospital also welcomed three sets of twins throughout the year, adding extra joy to those families.
Birth weights varied considerably, with the largest baby arriving at 11 pounds, 3 ounces — a healthy start to life that undoubtedly surprised the delivery team. These "FitzBabies," as they're affectionately known, represent more than a century of the hospital's commitment to maternal and infant care.
"We've been delivering babies since 1923, and each one is special," said Brea Weber, RN and nurse director of the Women’s Center at Fitzgibbon Hospital. "Whether it's our largest baby of the year or our smallest, every family receives the same high-quality, personalized care that has become our hallmark."
The maternity services at Fitzgibbon Hospital combine modern medical technology with the personal touch that comes from serving a close-knit community. The staff provides comprehensive prenatal care, labor and delivery services, and postpartum and breastfeeding support to ensure healthy outcomes for both mothers and babies.
Beyond the statistics, each of the 252 births represents a unique story — first-time parents experiencing the wonder of holding their child, siblings welcoming a new brother or sister, and grandparents celebrating the next generation.
For families planning to add to their own baby statistics in the coming year, Fitzgibbon Hospital offers expectant parents comprehensive maternity services. The hospital encourages those who are expecting to schedule appointments early to ensure continuity of care throughout pregnancy.
