New Laser Therapy at Fitzgibbon Hospital

May 23, 2017

MLS Laser Therapy can provide relief from inflammation and pain from head to toe.

People suffering from chronic pain or inflammation have a powerful partner in the fight, thanks to new laser therapy available at Fitzgibbon Hospital. The M6 Robotic MLS Therapy Laser is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that utilizes light energy to target damaged cells. The resulting decrease in pain and accelerated healing of soft tissues and wounds has resulted in numerous testimonials regarding its positive therapeutic results.

“We began looking at this technology after I was approached by a few individuals in the community who said they received the laser therapy, but had to leave the community to receive the treatment,” said Dennis Sousley, Vice President of Clinical Services for Fitzgibbon Hospital. “After hearing how pleased they were with their results, we began our research to see if it was something we could implement here at Fitzgibbon.”

The MLS Laser Therapy will be provided by Dr. Kylie Heying inside the Fitzgibbon Chiropractic Clinic. Laser therapy can be applied to more areas, however, than just back pain.

“This new therapy allows us to treat numerous conditions, from tendon and ligament sprains to wound care. It has shown to be very effective in aiding in the rapid healing of superficial injuries such as wounds or ulcers,” said Dr. Kylie Heying, Chiropractor at Fitzgibbon Chiropractic. It also is very effective in reducing swelling and helping athletes to recover quickly after an injury.”

MLS Laser Therapy is a painless treatment that lasts, on average, eight minutes. Patients may experience a comfortable sensation at the point of application. You may experience positive results in as little as one treatment, but subsequent treatments may be recommended, depending on the nature of the injury requiring care.

Acute injuries or conditions like muscle soreness or joint strains usually see relief rather quickly, while more chronic conditions can be controlled with regular laser treatments.

“We are very excited about this new technology, because it will allow people to receive relief from pain and inflammation without having to leave the community,” said Dr. Heying. “When you are already in pain, the last thing you want to do is go out of town to receive relief.”

Laser therapy is a great alternative for pain treatment instead of opioid or other medications that may have unwanted side effects. With laser therapy, there is very little risk and virtually no side effects.

MLS Laser Therapy has been shown to effectively treat a myriad of conditions including back and shoulder pain, joint, neck and knee pain, arthritis and bursitis including sciatic pain, Achilles tendonitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, and tennis and golfer’s elbow. The technique also can be used to reduce scarring following surgery or other injury. To make your appointment, call Fitzgibbon Chiropractic at (660)831-3743.
