The items ranged from infant acetaminophen and an instant-read forehead thermometer to breastfeeding supplies, baby wash, wipes, lotion and creams, sleepers, a winter stocking cap, an infant toothbrush for future teeth, and a few items to pamper the new Mom. The items were presented in a Sherpa-upholstered storage cube.
Olga and Luis Vasquez of Sedalia welcomed their child, Lusiya, at 4 a.m. on Sat., Jan.3, 2026, at Fitzgibbon Hopsital. Lusiya is the Vasquez’s fourth child.
The baby girl was delivered by Dr. James Kerns, M.D. She weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long.
“Fitzgibbon has been absolutely wonderful. Each and every staff have been truly supportive and caring. I could not have asked for a better experience,” said mom Olga Vasquez.
Each year for many decades, Fitzgibbon Hospital has recognized the first baby born there through natural labor. While other babies have been born at Fitzgibbon Hospital in the new year via scheduled induction, the Vasquez are the first to have their baby without a scheduled delivery. Please join us in welcoming the new little one as a “Fitz Baby.”
