Fitzgibbon Auxiliary Volunteers Donate nearly $16,200 this year

April 29, 2025

At the 2025 Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers annual meeting, held April 28, the hardworking group presented a check to Nancy Harris, Chief Operations Officer of Fitzgibbon Hospital, for $16,164.91. The funds are traditionally used for “wish list” items requested by patient care departments within Fitzgibbon Hospital as well as continuing education opportunities for staff.

Funds are raised through the annual Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar each November as well as at the group’s the annual rummage sale and other vendor events throughout the year.  Those events include vendors that sell scrubs, books, nuts and other goodies. Proceeds from sales in the organization’s gift shop at Fitzgibbon Hospital also go into the annual donation, which has totaled more than $1.1 million since the Auxiliary’s founding in the 1960s by the late Mrs. (Maggie) Charles Buckner.

The full wish-list for 2025 is as follows:

  • Two fetal dopplers for use in the Marshall Women’s Care clinic and a Jada system for use in the women’s center.  The Jada System will help staff stop hemorrhaging should the need arise.
  • Cordless clippers for the behavioral health unit
  • Femur traction and an Optivisor headband for the emergency department
  • Lateral view platform for use by the radiology department
  • Pulse oximeters for use in the Marshall Family Practice and Mid-Missouri Family Health clinics.
  • Several different types of wheel chairs for use in The Living Center including standard, high-back, bariatric and Kanga tilt wheelchairs.

During the annual meeting, officers for the Auxiliary also were announced for the upcoming year.  Melisa Shannon will continue as president. Jacque Hare will serve as the organization’s vice president. Rachel Hayworth will serve again as recording secretary, and Mendy Fann will serve again as treasurer.  Morgan Lampe will serve as the corresponding secretary, Amy Green will serve as Historian, Nancy Kleinschmidt will serve as Parliamentarian and Amanda Linneman will serve as the Legislative representative.
