31st Annual Pete H. Rea Memorial Golf Tournament

July 11, 2022

Fitzgibbon Hospital’s 31st Annual Pete H. Rea Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on a new date, Saturday, August 6, at the Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall. And as one of the primary public events that helps support the not-for-profit hospital, the stakes this year are higher than ever.

Like The Fling held this past spring, all proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will be designated for improvements in Fitzgibbon’s mental health offerings through the behavioral health unit and the Fitzgibbon Mental Health practice.

“Last year, we had a very successful golf tournament to raise funds for the new Linear Accelerator utilized by the Fitzgibbon Community Cancer Center. That was installed this past fall,” said Barr, Fitzgibbon Hospital Foundation Director. “We feel like there is so much need for mental health expansion in our rural area. Mental Health is really important for us to support. We have the only behavioral health unit for 60 miles, and we see patients from many counties away because of the successful outcomes we have here.”

Every golfer in the 2022 tournament will receive a gift for participating in the tournament in addition to the many hole prizes donated by local businesses.  There is also a $10,000 hole-in-one prize sponsored by Cargill.  Wood & Huston Bank is the presenting sponsor for this year’s tournament, and it is not too late to participate.  Both morning and afternoon tee times are still available.  Volunteers are also still needed for the event.

“Tournament directors Lisa McComas and Susan Pointer, as well as the amazing volunteers that we have from the hospital and community, demonstrate why this has been the most-anticipated tournament for the last 31 years,” said Barr.
