Marshall Family Practice and Fitzgibbon Family Health in Fayette announce that a new Family Nurse Practitioner has joined the staff of the two family practice clinics.  Christina “Chrissy” Williams, MSN, FNP-C, is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and will provide a wide array of medical care to individuals and families, bringing with her years of experience as a practicing nurse in several area hospitals.  Williams will provide care at Fitzgibbon Family Health in Fayette three days per week and spend the other two days providing care at Marshall Family Practice, located on the south side of the Fitzgibbon Hospital campus.

“I looked into Fitzgibbon Hospital and its mission. I saw that it is focused on compassionate care in the community, so I was interested in coming to a hospital where people know their community,” said Williams.

Williams is passionate about helping her patients understand that they have more control over their health than they may realize.

“I really enjoy geriatrics and providing education about their disease process and what is really going on inside them, so that they understand what they can do to help control their situation,” said Williams. “Sometimes people don’t always understand what options they have, so I enjoy helping them.”

Williams knew at a young age that helping people as a nurse was something she wanted to do with her life.  You could say that being a nurse runs in her family.

“My grandma was a hospice nurse, and I went around with her when I was younger,” said Williams.  “I always knew that I wanted to be a nurse and help people.  I have always focused on continuing my education to become a better nurse.”

Williams received her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Downers Grove, Ill., near Chicago in August of 2020.  Williams worked in the Orthopedic Unit at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia as well as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor.  She served as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg. Department at Bothwell Regional Health Center for eight years after her graduation from State Fair Community College in 2002.
