Fitzgibbon Hospital Announces Wednesday Pain Clinic

Fitzgibbon Hospital is bringing back a service that had been temporarily unavailable due to the relocation of a provider as it welcomes Wallace Ralston, DNP, CRNA, to the staff at the Fitzgibbon orthopedic clinic. Ralston will be caring for patients in need of various types of pain relief.

Ralston’s clinic will be inside Fitzgibbon Orthopedic and Sports Medicine on the second floor of Fitzgibbon Hospital. Ralston, who will focus on procedural relief of chronic pain, will begin seeing patients on Aug. 7, 2023. He plans to hold a pain clinic each Tuesday morning at that site.

Ralston is highly trained, earning qualifications as both a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and a Doctorate Nurse Practitioner. He completed his Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UMKC in 2020 and his Doctorate of Nursing Practice from UMKC in 2009.  He completed a fellowship in Chronic Pain Management at Texas Christian University in 2018.  Ralston also earned his Master of Arts in Biology and Anesthesia in 2004 from UMKC and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kansas in 1998.

Also involved in academic medicine, Ralston has served as an Associate Professor at UMKC and the Truman School of Nurse Anesthesia since 2014.

Ralston will treat a number of painful conditions with both traditional and holistic medicine techniques, including steroid injections and spinal blocks. Other conditions such as chronic migraine and other headaches, SI joint dysfunction, sciatic nerve pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) as well as treatment options for Covid-19 Long Haul Syndrome.
