Andrew Wyant, M.Div., M.D., BCUCM joins the medical staff at Fitzgibbon Hospital

Fitzgibbon Hospital has a new provider to welcome, as Dr. Andrew Wyant, M.Div., M.D., BCUCM has joined the medical staff. Dr. Wyant will see patients who are admitted to the hospital in a capacity known as a “hospitalist” and also will see patients on a part-time basis in Fitzgibbon-affiliated primary care clinics.

Dr. Wyant is broadly educated in various aspects of medical care as well as theology. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Ind., in May 1993, where he was in the top 15 percent of his graduating class. He received his B.S. in Science and Chemistry in 1989, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He also holds a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Theology and Bioethics from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ken., which he received in May 2014.

Prior to coming to Fitzgibbon Hospital, Dr. Wyant worked in family medicine, urgent care and served as a hospitalist for Cedar County Memorial Hospital in Eldorado Springs, Mo. He was chief of both the medical staff and of the medical clinic there, as well as serving as medical director for the Cedar County Health Department and Healthy Women’s program. He also served as the county coroner for Cedar County, appointed by Gov. Mike Parsons to the post in October 2022.

In his medical career, Dr. Wyant also completed a junior fellowship in Gynecological Oncology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center and spent time at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga Unit as both a resident and an intern in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, having completed specialty training in Ob/gyn surgery.

Dr. Wyant is board-certified by the American Board of Physician Specialties for Urgent Care Medicine. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine and the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
