Fitzgibbon Hospital will hold its annual Health Fair, co-sponsored by The Marshall Democrat-News and KMMO radio, from 7 to 11 a.m. this Friday, April 28, in the hospital’s atrium.
Attendees wishing to have low-cost laboratory tests such as lipid profile, complete metabolic panel, Hemoglobin A1C, hemoglobin/hematocrit, TSA (thyroid stimulating hormone) and prostate screening for men are welcome to come to the fair at any time. Anyone wishing to have these tests make sure to fast, or have nothing to eat or drink other that water, for 12 hours prior to their arrival. There is no appointment necessary. Because of the fasting requirement, a light breakfast will be provided free for all of those getting blood drawn for the lab testing.
Costs of these screening labs, with no office co-pays and no insurance deductibles are:
Lipid and CMP $15
Hemoglobin A1C $10
Prostate Screening $20
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone $20
Fees are payable at the time of registration.
Patients also will be able to sign up to receive their test results for free online via the MyHealth Patient Portal at Fitzgibbon Hospital. In addition, a scheduler will be available to help people schedule their screening mammogram, colonoscopy, low-dose lung CT and DEXA Bone Density Scan, all of which may be covered by the individual’s own insurance plan depending on their age, eligibility and individual insurance coverage.
Routine laboratory tests to “know your numbers” and identify the presence of elevated cholesterol or indicators for other conditions are encouraged annually to aid physicians in early detection and prevention of disease.
