History The Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1966 by Mrs. Charles Buckner. Our goal is to raise funds to aid the hospital in its needs. We also provide volunteers to help in various areas of the hospital.
We currently have volunteers working in the Hospital Gift Shop, the Information Desk, and the Surgery waiting room, as well as in the Living Center.
During the year, we have various fund raisers including bake sales, jewelry sales, and our year end finale, The Annual Chili Luncheon and Bazaar. This is help at the end of October.
We have an annual meeting in the spring to elect our officers, and vote on the disbursement of funds raised during the previous year. We have recently started having quarterly meetings to improve participation in our fundraisers.
Benefits of Volunteering
While volunteers offer their services free of charge, they do receive many benefits. They have a chance to learn new skills while making new friends and developing new interests.
Volunteers who work in the hospital (including gift shop and information desk) enjoy discounts in the hospital cafeteria. Benefits that are free include break drinks and coffee, an annual recognition awards luncheon, and flu shots.
If you have some time you would like to fill, while making a contribution to your community at the same time, please join with us. We have a lot of fun and keep in touch with others in the community.
Volunteers are male, female, retired, employed, students, local residents, or individuals from surrounding communities. These uncommon people have one common purpose - they are dedicated to helping others. Their time and commitment adds to the compassionate care we give out patients at Fitzgibbon Hospital.
