Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Cardiac Rehabilitation: Phase II: This is the program for patients immediately following surgery or heart attack. Phase II lasts from 8 to 12 weeks, and is offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 am. The focus of the program is to develop a new lifestyle with emphasis on weight reduction, exercise and stress reduction. The program also aims at improving the strength and functional capacity of the heart. Phase III: This is a follow-up to Phase II and is considered maintenance because it continues to develop the new lifestyle in an effort to enable the patient to be active to maintain their health. The program is offered on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 5:45 – 9:15 am and again from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. Phase IV: Phase IV is for members of the community who have two or more risk factors (sedentary lifestyle, obesity, stress, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes). It is offered on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays fro m5:45 – 9:15 am and again from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Phase II: Implemented immediately following an acute exacerbation of lung problems, Phase II is for the individual who is newly diagnosed for oxygen, CPAP, chronic obstructive lung disease, emphysema, fibrosis, or other lung problems. These classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 – 11:00 am and 12:00 – 3:00 pm. Phase III: This is a continuation of the program focused at improving the functional capacity of the lungs and to maintain activities of daily life while living with lung disease. These classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. |
