You will be contacted if we are unable to receive payment from your insurance company. You might also be asked to provide further information to resolve the issue, or to contact your insurance carrier directly.

  • What if I do not have insurance?

If you do not have insurance, a bill will be sent directly to you after service is complete or you have been discharged from the hospital.

  • What if I cannot pay my bill "in full"?

If you are unable to pay the entire amount shown on your bill, please contact Patient Accounts at the phone number listed on your bill. At that time, we can assist you with a payment plan. You may qualify for our financial assistance programs. These programs are designed to assist patients who are either financially or medically indigent. Assistance is based on income and family size. The programs are accepted for care with no obligation or discounted obligation to pay for services.

  • What is the difference between medically and financially indigent patients?

A medically indigent patient is a person who has experienced a sudden loss of income of at least 90 days due to illness. A financially indigent patient is a person who does not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for part or all of the healthcare.

  • Who is eligible for the Financial Assistance Programs?

You will be asked to provide financial information regarding your income. You financial assets and liabilities may also be considered when determining your ability to pay. We also use poverty income guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to determine a person’s eligibility for financial assistance. For more information please contact us.

  • Am I responsible for my bill while I am applying for assistance?

Yes, you are responsible for your bill until eligibility has been determined.

  • Why am I receiving multiple bills?

Depending on the services you needed, you may receive several other bills. If you had certain tests or procedures, you may also receive a separate bill from your doctor for his/her services, as well as from Marshall Radiology Services, Boyce & Bynum Pathology Labs, Inc., and/or Marshall Anesthesiology.
