POSITION TITLE: Physical Therapist JOB CODE: 165
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Rehabilitation Manager
SERVICE AREA: Rehabilitation Services
POSITION PURPOSE: Performs physical therapy evaluation and treatment in a professional manner. Performs patient/client evaluations, treatment planning and implementation of individual programs to achieve functional goals, incorporating patient, family and physician expectation.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE JOB:
*Performs physical therapy to provide quality patient care.
-Performs patient evaluation, plans treatment program, implements program in a safe, effective manner.
-Continually re-evaluates patient and adapts treatment program accordingly.
-Documents objective findings and progress following hospital procedures.
-Facilitates communication with patients, families, hospital personnel and physicians.
-Demonstrates sound judgment regarding clinical decision making.
-Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care of service appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.
-Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's structure standards.
*Demonstrates professional customer relations at all times.
-Develops and maintains professional, courteous rapport with patients, families, hospital personnel and physicians.
-Facilitates a positive environment.
-Respects the confidentiality of patient records and uses discretion when discussing patient matters.
*Organizes time schedule effectively to provide quality patient care.
-Effectively dovetails patients and uses support personnel appropriately.
-Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling.
-Utilizes downtime effectively for program and career development.
-Participates in effective functioning of the department and QM program.
*Participates in inservices, continuing education, department meetings and program development.
-Assists in equipment upkeep.
-Completes hospital fire and safety requirements.
-Complies with hospital and departmental structure standards, including attendance.
*Demonstrates knowledge base and clinical skills to properly and safely operate equipment/modalities which are necessary to carry out the plan of care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
Certification/Licensure Required for Job: Eligible for PT license in Missouri
Experience: Technical Field: No experience
Supervision: 0-2 years
Preferred: 1-2 years' experience
