COMMUNITY VISION … COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT |
|
In Fiscal Year 2009, Fitzgibbon Hospital employees reached out into the community through various events. Hospital staff conducted health fairs in local elementary schools and businesses throughout the area and spoke to over 460 kindergarten students in area schools about bicycle safety, providing each one with a free bicycle helmet. Our staff also participated in the annual Salt Fork YMCA Ladies Night Out event; the annual KMMO Ladies’ Night; sponsored a Grief Support Group, a Cancer Survivors Support Group, and a New Mothers’ Support Group for area citizens; hosted several Community Blood Center blood drives; provided diabetes training through a series of special focus events; provided a series of childbirth and related classes for expectant families; and hosted several tours for students from area schools. The Fitzgibbon Hospital Relay for Life Team met their goal of raising $3,000 for cancer research, earning them the honor of Silver Team during the 2009 Relay for Life activities. Relay for Life events included a pie throw, bake sales, and other activities. |

In Fiscal Year 2009, Fitzgibbon Hospital awarded six $500 scholarships to area high school seniors who are planning to go into the medical field. Totaling $24,000 over its eight years, the Fitzgibbon Hospital Scholarship is an investment in our community as well as an investment in the future workforce. The Fitzgibbon Auxiliary Ambassadors awarded two $1,500 scholarships to employees of the Fitzgibbon organization. These annual scholarships are a tradition for the Fitzgibbon Auxiliary and help current employees to continue their education. This year’s Auxiliary Scholarships were awarded to Judy Dunlap, Materials Management, and Andrew McCoy, Patient Accounts. |
